Bridget Hedderman is an experienced biologist with a Masters in Education. She has over ten years of experience in the field, both pioneering and leading fieldtrips. She has a dive master certificate and is pro-active in marine conservation & education.

Helen Newman - Co-Founder

Helen Newman is a marine biologist and directs her own company - Newman Biomarine. She has over 20 years of experience in South East Asia as a marine consultant.

Subaraj Rajathurai - Natural Historian

Subaraj Rajathurai is a very well known and experienced natural historian, birding consultant and nature guide from Singapore with over 20 years experience in the field. He is Singapore’s first professional tourist guide specialising exclusively in eco-tourism.

Karen Chen - Fieldtrip Specialist / Nature Guide

Karen Chen is a qualified nature guide with over five years of experience in the field. She has been heavily involved in animal welfare and environmental education at Jurong Bird Park and Underwater World Singapore. She is also a talented nature photographer.

Ligia Fernández - Marine Biologist

Ligia Fernández is a marine biologist and has many years of experience in environmental education and nature tourism. Amongst her many talents is her vast knowledge of mangrove biology.

Jen Chapman - Environmental Biologist

Jen Chapman is a biology graduate and PADI Dive Master with a keen interest in conservation. She has previously worked on environmental sustainability projects and has continuing involvement in conservation projects throughout Asia.

Richard Cottrell - Ecologist

Richard Cottrell is a Biology graduate from Southampton University. He has a keen interest in ecology, particularly in coral reef health. He has previously undertaken marine research projects in Indonesia and has a great enthusiasm for all conservation work.

Samantha Craven - Marine Biologist

Samantha Craven has an MSc from Plymouth University in Applied Marine Science. A student on one of the first trips run by Ecofieldtrips, she joined EFT to share her passion and experience in biology and conservation with the next generation. Samantha is also the author of a marine biology blog.

Matt Carter - Anthropologist & Conservationist

Matt is a Modern Languages graduate and has experience as a travel consultant. His impressive portfolio of travel experience, together with his personal interest in conservation and anthropology, make him a valuable addition to the Ecofieldtrips team. Matt authors a blog for young conservationists: The Fig Tree Forum.

Chua Sek Chuan - Marine Biologist and Ecologist

Chua Sek Chuan is a Singaporean marine biologist and ecologist. He was formerly chairman of the Marine Conservation Group of the Nature Society. He is also the author of Singapore Waters and is widely noted as an expert in his field.

Rosa Celia Poquito - Marine Biologist

Ross is a Marine Biology graduate from University of San Carlos, Cebu, Philippines. Her thirst for knowledge and willingness to share what she has learnt brought her to Ecofieldtrips. Rosa has previous experience in education and scientific research.

Katie Luxmore - Zoologist

Katie is a Zoology graduate with a dedication to conservation. Her particular area of interest is rainforest ecology and she has worked as a volunteer in Borneo on various conservation projects in the past.

Tara Beardmore - Marine Biologist & Journalist

Tara recently joined the EFT team after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Marine Biology and Journalism. Tara has worked caring for sick and injured animals in her native Australia and has experience working behind the scenes on a nature TV program.

Jana Buehler - Ecologist

Jana Buehler is a biology graduate with a particular interest in rainforest ecology. She was involved in a environmental impact and resource management project in rural Ethiopia and  has also been involved in both coastal and terrestrial field projects within Europe.

Ruben Venegas - Biologist

Ruben is a Costa Rican biologist with an MSc in GIS and Remote Sensing applied to Natural Resources Management. He has been involved in research and conservation projects in Latin America, with special interest in Sea Turtle Biology and habitat mapping. He has also participated in conservation projects in Europe and Indonesia.

Jamie FitzGerald - Biologist

Jamie is a genetics graduate from University College Cork, Ireland. He has interests in ecology and biodiversity. His aim is to find ways of applying genetics to practical conservation.

Angela Burgess - Marine and Zoo Conservation Biologist

Angela graduated from Plymouth University with a degree in Marine and Coastal Biology. She decided to pursue her interest in the marine environment by completing a course in commercial diving. Angela recently completed her masters in Zoo Conservation Biology.

Jack Curran - Biologist

Jack is a former student of an Ecofieldtrips trip where he learnt to dive in 2005. He has persued his interest in Biology through studying at Manchester University and has since completed his Dive Master training in Honduras.

Helen Brunt is an Anthropologist and PADI Dive Instructor working for the Semporna Islands Darwin Project in Sabah, Borneo. Her work focuses on environmental education and awareness with local people living in a Marine Protected Area.

Jenny has been working on school fieldtrips around Asia since 1981. She is an amazing team leader and first aid officer, and a joy to have on fieldtrips. She has taken part in many humanitarian efforts around the world.

Juergen Zimmerer - Langkawi Canopy Adventures

Juergen is the founder and director of Langkawi Canopy Adventures, operating both canopy tours and mangrove kayak tours in Langkawi, Malaysia. He has written a book on Langkawi's natural history and is an avid athlete. Having completed an Ironman competition, he now runs Ironman training camps on the island.
